THE MISSION of CONCERNS OF POLICE SURVIVORS: Rebuilding shattered lives of survivors and co-workers affected by line of duty deaths, through partnerships with law enforcement and the community.
The Retired Peace Officers of Colorado (RPOC) helps to support the Colorado Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) by assisting the children of fallen Colorado law enforcement officers with travel to the annual C.O.P.S. Kid’s Camp.
To do this, we have established a special account that receives funding strictly from your donations, rather than member dues.
C.O.P.S.’ Kid’s Camp provides surviving spouses with children (ages 6-14) the opportunity to work with professional counselors and trained mentors to improve communications within the family unit and resolve grief issues together.
Funding for the camp comes from the C.O.P.S. organization. RPOC will assist with expenses needed to travel to Wisconsin where the camp is held each summer. Organized camp activities are supplemented with counseling during the weeklong camp. Friendly competition, planned activities that encourage team-building, and shared fun times in a camp atmosphere to help families recognize that the teamwork approach will help them cope with their grief.
Your Donations are needed to maintain this vision every year!
Please make your donations payable to RPOC and note that it is for the COPS Kid’s Camp! You can mail your donation to the RPOC Treasurer along with your annual membership dues!
