The purpose of the Retired Peace Officers of Colorado (RPOC) is to be a central repository of experience and knowledge that can be called upon to serve the people of the State of Colorado. This resource is made up of retired peace officers from local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies who reside within the borders of Colorado.
The RPOC will serve as a resource for anyone seeking assistance in the field of law enforcement and will, upon request, dispatch assistance to any agency in need. The most experienced person will be selected. Any request must be in writing and will cite the authority responsible for arrangements made.
The expertise will also be available to government bodies, especially those which oversee law enforcement in the State of Colorado. Where deemed necessary, advice will be given to state governing bodies for the purpose of improving law enforcement. Such actions will be governed by the decision of the RPOC Board and must be for the purpose of serving the good of all concerned and not the personal interests of any on individual. Members appearing officially before any governing body must be approved by the Board.
The RPOC will not become involved in union-type actions or activities in any manner and will take no actions to impact union aims.
The RPOC will be the source for social activity and support among retired peace officers, will provide a forum to reminisce and will also provide the motivation for members to compete for recognition in service to our State.
The RPOC will also provide a resource for helping motivate the young people of Colorado who desire to become peace officers through assisting in lectures, seminars, classes and preparing reading materials to be utilized in Career Day Activities.
The primary purpose of the RPOC is to utilize the vast resource of knowledge and experience in possession of RETIRED PEACE OFFICERS and not permit it to go to waste.
The RPOC meets for lunch the first Tuesday of every month except July. Social time begins at 11:30. At noon we begin the business meeting, followed by lunch and a guest speaker. Contact us for the meeting location. We encourage all retired law enforcement officers to join us, regardless of which agency you worked for.
